The waste crisis in Campania, ...

The waste crisis in Campania, which becomes ever more explosive, is a metaphor for the Western development model and its possible, even probable, fate. Typically charges are the responsibility of the emergency to local administrators, national governments, left or right, to the various special commissioners, to the interests of the Neapolitan Camorra and the same people disinclined to historic character, to the order. And those responsibilities, of course there are. But the real issue here is not here.
Naples and Campania are only the most obvious and most visible tip of a gigantic iceberg world. The fact is that the Western development model, which now also includes Russia, China, India and all the so-called Third World countries where it has penetrated our economy is producing too much. Tot production means a certain number of other such waste. And since, as Democritus said as early as the fourth century BC, "in nature nothing is created nor destroyed" the refusal you can move, you can hide, as a fan of the dogs hiding their shit under the carpet, but not can be eliminated. A classic case of concealment are the canine incinerators. The only apparently reduces waste incinerator in reality simply compresses them. As always happens with technology. The technology compresses time and space very short of what nature processes in slow and spacious. But the energy as compressed rebounds, sooner or later, like a spring and with the same force that has collapsed. The incinerator is in fact a manufacturer of a concentration of toxic substances (dioxin) that remain in circulation for a time almost ever, at least in human terms. We have made hunting less visible but no less insidious.
It is also why other Italian regions of Campania seem less affected. Some of these then send their waste to Germany, paying for the service weight in gold. And what are the good Germans? They do what they would do if they could Neapolitan: dump more toxic waste elsewhere, on coasts of Benin and other countries too poor and too weak to oppose the genocide. But sooner or later the coast of Benin will become saturated. And then the whole planet will be in the same condition as they now Naples and Campania.
The solution seems obvious: to produce less. But you can not. This model is based on exponential growth. Which means not only that, God forbid, can not go back, not only can not stop, not only can not slow down, but it can not maintain, as already dizzying, the current rate but must, by its inescapable consistency internal, continues to grow, otherwise implode upon itself. And no country, taken individually, can escape production in this crazy, why go back to levels considered unacceptable. It would take a "global moratorium of the production." But who would dare to even think of it? And if anyone thought we would be inundated with jokes, from the jokes, the insults, the spitting of those who complain about their cancer, leukemia, cardiovascular disease, respiratory those caused by pollution, but in a tragic fagia self-destructive, Do not dream of swallowing new products, and are considered poor if they do not have them, confuse needs with desires that are different. Why not die poor, but they are too rich.
As in the "Great Binge" Marco Ferreri die of suffocation by our own shit. Die as we deserve. Deserves as those who have forgotten all sense of limits and of itself and the same instinct for survival. Amen.
